During the scan, you'll be asked to lie down or sit comfortably while a small amount of water-based gel is applied to the skin. A handheld probe is then moved gently over the area being examined to capture real-time ultrasound imaging.
You may occasionally be asked to adjust your position or briefly hold your breath to improve image quality.
Ultrasound provides clear and valuable diagnostic information in most cases. Where further detail is needed, additional imaging such as MRI or CT may sometimes be recommended to support the findings.
Book in today“I had ongoing shoulder pain after a fall and never had it properly assessed. The scan confirmed a partial rotator cuff tear and bursitis, which finally gave me clear answers. I was able to stop training and begin the right treatment with confidence. I had been waiting weeks through the NHS with no answers. Ultrascan gave me answers within one appointment — incredible service.”
